Our history and future

Founded in 2010, Torquay Hockey Club (the Torquay Tornadoes) has grown into one of the
Surf Coast’s most inclusive and community‑focused sporting clubs.

With the opening of our new synthetic pitch at Banyul‑Warri Fields, 2026 marks a new era
for hockey in Torquay. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming and
development‑focused environment for juniors, seniors and families.

We recognise that sport shapes young people’s lives. The environment we build today
becomes our club’s legacy for the future.

Club & Affiliation Fees
All hockey players must also be members of Hockey Victoria – this is an additional fee to the club fees. The cost of the affiliation depends on the age of the player.

Fixtures
The venue for games varies dependant on the age group. Please see Hockey Geelong fixtures for game details.

The main hockey centre is Geelong Hockey Centre in Geelong which has a synthetic ground. New players are always welcome to join our club in men’s, women’s and junior competitions.

Deakin Uni Students
Torquay Hockey Club has over a dozen Deakin University students playing for the club and students from a range of other universities.
