The Torquay Tornadoes had a great year in 2023 and it is a good time to reflect.
Finals
We had 6 teams play on grand final day with 5 winning the premiership. The teams that won the flag were:
- Division 1 Women
- Division 1 Men
- Under 17
- Under 12
- Under 10

Presentation nightThe details of the Presentation Night are as follows:
Date: Friday 20th October
Venue: Grant Pavilion Surf Coast Shire Precinct
Time: Juniors arrive from 5:00pm and junior teams presentation will begin at 5:30pm followed by BBQ dinner. Seniors arrive from 7:15 for BBQ followed by presentations.
Food: Burgers & sausages. Drinks available to purchase from the bar.

Juniors $15 per person
Adults (parents & seniors) $20 per person
Representative players
Torquay had a number of players represent Victoria, including Ashton Schram, Jayden Schram, Jett Mitchell, Laim Kerr Nelson, Tucker Kooloos and Liv Jenkins. Ashton Schram has also been selected in the Hockey Melbourne futures squad and Liam Kerr Nelson was captain of the Australian Hockey 5’s team.
We also members represent Victoria in the masters including Glenn O’Shannessy, Deb O’Shannessy, Chris Thomspon, Georgina Sayer and Steve Macumber.
Fees
We still have some membership fees outstanding. We would appreciate all members helping by paying their fees. As a community sporting club, we have very limited financial resources, and we need to pay Hockey Geelong fees for games, umpires and training. The link to the store for payment of fees is below:

Planning for the future
The Torquay Hockey Club continue to work with the Surf Coast Shire in relation to planning for a synthetic hockey facility in Torquay. The land is now allocated at Banyul-Warri Fields in the Community Civic Precinct Master Plan. We hope to have more news soon.
