Torquay Hockey Club division 1 premiers

Our Torquay hockey club is super proud of all teams efforts in the 2017 winter season! We’d like to congratulate all our players on a fantastic job, and thank everyone involved in the club’s success.

The players put in an outstanding season, with three of our teams making it through to the finals.

Our division 1 men’s hockey team finished top of the ladder at the end of the regular season, setting up a showdown with rivals the Netwown Falcons. In a rematch of last years’ final, our club found redemption, with an emphatic 7 – 0 victory – taking out the title in just our fifth season.

A huge congratulation goes out to all our players, coaches and supporters who helped the team to the win, denying Newtown a fourth flag in five years.

The win is the icing on the cake, capping off a super season, and is a tribute to our hockey club’s hard work and focus on player development.

Congratulations also to the our division 1 women’s team and under-17 girls who also made it through to the grand final.

Both teams fought valiantly, with the women going down to the Geelong Jaguars, and our Under 17 girls coming second to the Newtown Strikers.

The Torquay Tornadoes Hockey Club would like to give a shout out to everyone involved in our bumper 2017 winter season and welcome all players back to climb the mountain again next year!
